I am particularly struck by the power of the hand painted Turkish tiles from the 15th to 18th centuries. The cintemani pattern on the left and the lightening tile pattern on the right, are especially resonant, with their dynamic drawing and intense cobalt blue glaze. They both have the quality of life in an apparently inanimate object. |
